15 Weeks Pregnant

Your baby is now about the size of an apple and you will start noticing quite a difference in your waistline.

15 week ultrasound

If you could peek inside your womb this week, you would be able to see that the nose and lips are fully formed. Your baby’s taste buds are developed, even though there’s not much to taste.

Fifteen Weeks Pregnant

Your baby just keeps growing! This week he or she measures approximately 4 inches in length from crown to rump and is about the size of an apple. The lungs are developing by the amniotic fluid as it moves through the nose and upper respiratory tract. The legs have grown longer than the arms, the joints are all developed. Even thought the eyelids are still shut, your baby can sense light.

If you have an ultrasound set up for this week, you may be able to determine the sex. However, this is still pretty early and finding out whether you’re having a boy or a girl depends on how clear the picture is and the position of the baby. So don’t be disappointed if you can’t tell.

How You Are Changing

Your belly is continuing to expand as your womb moves up and out of your pelvis. You may have a noticeable bump!

If you’re noticing that you breasts are leaking, it is just your milk glands developing. You may want to get some breast pads to put inside your bra. You can get either disposable or washable breast pads. You will need them after your baby is born, so getting a few sets of washable now may get you ready for the future.

Braxon-Hicks contractions sometimes start around this week. These are practice contractions and you will feel your abdomen tightening but are they are not painful. If you do feel pain, and these contractions last for more than an hour or you have a lot of discharge or blood, contact your doctor.

While your mood swings and other general ill feelings have probably subsided, you may start feeling a little stress. Many pregnant women feel that way as they worry about the health of their baby and wonder how they will handle the changes that are coming. However, because you have more energy and feel healthier, you should feel good this trimester.
