3 Weeks Pregnant
In the 3rd week of pregnancy you have conceived and your body has started on the miraculous path of making a baby!
The moment you’ve been waiting for has finally arrived! You have conceived and your body has started on the miraculous path of making a baby!
At 3 weeks pregnant, your baby is smaller than a seed.
Third Week of Pregnancy
Things inside your body are really starting to change now! Your body is finally getting to do what it has been preparing for month after month, year after year, since you first started your period.
Right now your little one is only a tiny ball, or blastocyst, that consists of hundreds of cells. Part of it will develop into the placenta and that part is busy creating the hormone hCG (human chorionic gonadotropin) which stops your ovaries from releasing eggs. You will start producing an increase of progesterone and estrogen and this is what prevents you from having a period.
Amniotic fluid is starting to collect around the ball of cells where the amniotic sac will form. This fluid is very important as it will protect your baby as he/she grows in the months ahead.
Early Pregnancy Symptoms
Some women begin getting early pregnancy symptoms, even as early as week 3. You may begin to feel symptoms, even before you get a positive result from a pregnancy test.
Common early pregnancy symptoms include:
- Swollen, tender breasts
- Sensitive smell
- Frequent urination
- Food aversions
- Nausea or vomiting
- Spotting or bleeding
Positive Pregnancy Test
Although you may not yet feel like you’re pregnant, you have a growing and developing baby inside you! Even though you have just conceived, your little one is already working overtime.
If you take a pregnancy test at the end of the third week, you may see a positive result. However, if the result is negative, don’t assume that you’re not pregnant. It may still be a little too early. Just wait a few more days, then try again.
